This temple to Hindu god Narasimha has stood in Savanadurga for many hundreds of years and have been served by the ancestors of the Murthy family. The temple has been passed down by inheritance to the eldest son through the many generations. The temple is currently being served by Savanadurga Krishna Narasimha Murthy and his younger brothers who all serve within the temple.

Next to the Narasimha Temple their is an adjoining Temple for Hindu Goddess Lakshmi. The family also undertake poojas at a Hanuman Temple next to the priests family home. 

This family of 11 brothers and 3 sisters have continued managing and running the temple after the death of their father Sri. Savanadurga Narasappa Krishna Murthy on January 4th 1993 at the age of 69 years.

Sadly their Mother Smt. Janakamma died on 4th June 1999 ending the link to the previous generation.

Sri. Savanadurga Narasappa Krishna Murthy and Smt. Janakamma had 11 sons and 3 daughters. Infant mortality was high without the provisions of good medical care sadly the eldest son died at birth. Another son died around the age of 10 and was called Prasad. 2 daughters also died both under the age of 10, one called Tayamma and Rajamma. 

Most recently in 2004 Mr Savanadurga Krishna Vijayasimha died at the young age leaving behind a young son Yashas Simha and wife Geeta.
